I can understand why. Black cats have been associated with bad luck since the Middle Ages when they became synonymous with witches in the Salem witch trials. However, as we all know there is no real truth to that. As a color of a coat can’t really make you more or less ‘magical’. However, even to this day, people still believe it is bad luck if a black cat crosses your path. I know I was afraid when that happened to me as a kid.
And so this has led to black cats being adopted far less than other cats with varying furs. Although surprisingly enough in some countries like Japan, if a woman has a black cat, she is considered to be luckier than others and people believe she can attract more suitors. Even British sailors used to have black kittens on their ships since they believed that the cats would help them with a safe journey home.
That is why today we are going to pay some special attention to these long-neglected panther siblings. We all think black panthers are fierce right? So the same should go for black cats. After all, they are not really different.
Well, we are all aware that even cats can have diseases similar to humans like cancer and such. However, what you may not know is that according to some research done a few years ago, black cats are naturally more resistant to many diseases.
It is because the mutation that causes cats to have black fur can offer some sort of immunity protection as well.
Black panthers and black cats might not be actually related but who can deny the resemblance?
